Trappe council approves $500 COVID bonus, awards influent screen rehab and reallocates ARPA funds

The Trappe Town Council on Dec. 4 approved several uses of remaining ARPA funds, including a one-time $500 COVID bonus for each employee and multiple wastewater infrastructure contracts and contract amendments.
Administrator Erin Braband presented an updated ARPA financial report. Commissioner Water Chase moved — and the council unanimously approved — a one-time $500 COVID bonus for every employee. The council then awarded the influent screen rehabilitation contract to Bearing Construction for $130,154, following a motion by Commissioner Chase and a second by Commissioner Sullivan. Council members also directed an addendum to the sewer liner RFP to increase its available amount to $75,000 (current RFP deadline Dec. 23) and asked Administrator Braband to request a $40,000 amendment from Davis, Bowen & Friedel to add lead line inventory services.
Council scheduled a workshop Dec. 23 at 1:00 p.m. to finalize allocation of remaining ARPA funds. The motions recorded were approvals to expend ARPA funds as described; no additional local tax increases or bond issuances were tied directly to these ARPA decisions.
