The Trappe Town Council voted Sept. 11, 2024 to approve the emergency purchase of a diesel generator and related electrical work for the town's water tower, using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. The motion was made by Commissioner Jeremy Newnam and seconded by Commissioner Michael Sullivan; it passed unanimously.
Town Administrator Erin Braband told the council that staff had contacted five companies for quotes after the existing propane generator failed. The approved package awards the generator supply and delivery to Kelly Generator and the electrical installation work to Bilbrough Electric for a combined total of $63,400.00. Council members cited Kelly Generator's local presence and an existing contract for generator services as reasons for selecting that vendor. The council did not record any roll-call opposition.
