Trappe council approves sewer-bill adjustment and payment plan for resident after pipe burst

During public comment at the Aug. 7 meeting, Jennifer Howell said a pipe burst at her house and she had her brother fix the leak but was unable to obtain a credit under the town policy. Administrator Erin Braband reviewed the account information with the council.
After discussion, Commissioner Michael Sullivan moved to adjust Ms. Howell’s water bill for the sewer portion using the Town’s policy formula and to create a three-month payment plan; Commissioner Walter Chase seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously.
The council directed staff to apply the town formula for sewer-bill adjustments and to establish a short-term payment schedule for the resident; any future cases will be handled according to the same policy.
