Dispute over loaned stove prompts return request to Lyman Historical Committee

Bud Meyers addressed the council about a stove that had been loaned to the Lyman Historical Committee by Candy Cathcart. Meyers said Candy called on June 3, 2026, claiming an anonymous observer saw the stove taken from upstairs in Town Hall "out to the garage in the pouring rain over memorial weekend," and that the barrel had not been dismantled before moving.
The clerk told the council she had found a copy of the Exhibit Loan Agreement signed by Candy Cathcart and former history committee members; the clerk read the agreement clause saying, “in the event that either party wishes to end the display of the stove the stove is to be returned to Candy Cathcart at no expense to the City of Lyman or the Lyman Historical Committee.” Candy demanded the stove be returned by Friday June 12, 2026 no later than 5 p.m. Council member Jeremy Mast and history committee member Mack Cameron volunteered to help return it; the clerk was asked to email Candy a copy of the loan agreement and arrange delivery for June 12.
