Trappe requests RFPs for sewer-camera inspections and radio-read water meters

During an Aug. 7 workshop, Administrator Erin Braband presented quotes for two infrastructure projects: camera inspection of all sewer mains and replacement of water meters with radio-read components. Because the quotes indicated substantial cost, the council directed Town Attorney Lyndsey Ryan to draft requests for proposals (RFPs) for both projects.
The sewer-camera inspection would cover the town’s sewer mains; the water-meter project would include new meters and radio-read equipment. Council members raised cost concerns and chose an RFP approach to invite competitive bids and clarify scope before committing ARPA funds.
Council placed both projects on the procurement track to better define scope, cost, and timelines before awarding contracts.
