Trappe council approves ARPA purchase of two public-works trucks

The Town of Trappe Council on Aug. 7 approved using American Rescue Plan Act funds to purchase two public-works trucks from vendor IG Burton after reviewing multiple quotes.
Administrator Erin Braband presented seven vehicle quotes; the council reached consensus to acquire a 2024 3500 Chevy Silverado 4WD with utility bed and snow plow (quote 1) and a 2024 2500 Chevy Silverado 4WD with utility bed (quote 3). The council set a maximum purchase price for the two trucks of $150,000 and asked President Schmidt to inquire whether the 3500’s utility bed can be swapped for a regular bed before final purchase decisions are completed.
Council members unanimous approved the purchase using ARPA funds during the meeting's order-of-business votes. The vehicles and any bed modification will be procured consistent with the council’s direction and existing procurement rules.
The decision follows an extended ARPA workshop earlier in the afternoon in which vehicle options and other potential uses of remaining ARPA dollars were reviewed.
