The Dakota County Board adopted amendments to Park Ordinance 107 after a public hearing in which no members of the public spoke. Parks Director Nikki Geisler told the board the update was intended "to correct and clarify language, to add detail to certain activities, make recommended changes to accommodate real life application" and specifically to address electric-powered devices and motorized recreational vehicles.
Geisler said the proposed changes were reviewed and supported by the county attorney's office and the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office, and that public notice was posted in the Hastings Journal and on the county website. With no comments offered at the hearing, a commissioner moved to adopt the amendments and the board approved them on roll call.
The changes aim to give staff clearer enforcement authority and to reflect how devices such as electric scooters and other motorized recreational devices are used on county lands. The board recorded a unanimous vote to adopt the ordinance amendments.
