Dakota County approves host approval for 3Sixty Communities Lewis House shelter financing

The Dakota County Board held a public hearing Aug. 4 and approved a resolution providing host approval for tax-exempt financing of a new Lewis House shelter project proposed by 3Sixty Communities.
Deputy County Manager Dave McKnight told commissioners the Lewis House would be a "50 bed apartment style domestic violence shelter," with construction slated to begin this fall and completion expected in 2027. He said the overall project cost is "right around $14,000,000," and that the City of Lilydale would issue tax-exempt bonds "in an amount not to exceed $8,000,000." McKnight emphasized the county would not be responsible for principal or interest payments and that the county’s role as host requires only minimal staff time and a public hearing.
No members of the public spoke during the hearing. Commissioner (speaker 10) moved approval, a second was recorded, and the board adopted the resolution by roll call with all commissioners voting yes. The action also authorized a cooperation agreement with the City of Lilydale and clears the way for the city to complete bond issuance for the project.
