The La Pine Budget Committee reviewed community sponsorship applications and approved a range of awards at its May 13 meeting. The committee approved $74,800 for the La Pine Visitor Center and $10,000 for Frontier Days; it approved Music in the Pines for $6,500 and allocated $4,500 to the La Pine Community Kitchen to cover a land-use application fee. Several requests received no city sponsorship this year, including the La Pine Pickleball Tournament and the La Pine Park & Recreation ADA playground request.
Budget Officer Ashley Ivans told the Committee there had been a misunderstanding about available funds: she clarified that $6,500 was the total pool for community sponsorships in that specific line item, not a per-applicant cap. The Committee also tightened future application rules, limiting presentations to two presenters per group and requiring more specificity in grant applications. The Committee recorded the approved sponsorships in the minutes but did not include individual recorded roll-call tallies for each award.
