The Corning Union High School District Board voted unanimously March 19 to give the district a positive Second Interim certification after reviewing the Chief Business Official’s financial update. Diana Davisson presented the district’s Second Interim materials, including the SACS financial reports, multiyear projections and cashflow worksheets, and explained revenue and expenditure drivers.
Davisson outlined projected revenues of roughly $27.07 million and total expenditures near $29.15 million in the combined unrestricted/restricted summary, and showed the general fund projected ending fund balance of $6.27 million (unrestricted projection: $6.49 million). The Board motion to certify the district’s financial condition was moved by Reid Lamson and seconded by Cody Lamb; Turri noted the district’s responsibility to monitor reserves. “We’re approving a positive certification,” Lamson stated after the motion passed unanimously.
The report highlighted key items: LCFF sources near $17.19 million, restricted state and federal grant activity that materially affects restricted funds, planned transfers to a special reserve fund for capital outlay, and updated assumptions used for multiyear projections. Davisson also summarized cashflow forecasts and the district’s reserve standard calculations required under state criteria. Board members asked clarifying questions about capital transfers and one-time restricted funds; the board recorded the positive certification and moved to action items.
