Trustee questions board transparency and committee assignments during communications segment
Summary
Board member Kelly Black raised concerns about bills-and-claims access, removal from committees, and what she described as retaliation; the chair and other trustees said the board has an agreed process for bills-and-claims review and that personnel/assignment issues can be pursued through formal complaint channels.

During the communications portion of the meeting, Board Member Kelly Black publicly objected to how bills-and-claims information is provided to trustees and to her removal from committee and 'adopt-a-school' assignments. She said she would not sign off on bills-and-claims without more detailed coding of expenditures and questioned whether leadership had been consistent in assigning responsibilities.
The chair responded that the board had collectively agreed to the bills-and-claims review process and cited a legal opinion and auditor support for the approach; the chair also said personnel or conduct complaints can be addressed through the board's formal processes. The exchange included back-and-forth about whether the trustee's concerns were on- or off-topic for the agenda item and ended with the chair urging use of formal complaint channels.
