Notus awarded chip seal and Raise planning grants for street work

The Notus City Council received updates that the city secured a chip-seal grant and was selected for a Raise planning and design grant related to collector streets. Mayor David Porterfield said the chip-seal grant application from last year was successful; the city needs cost estimates to determine how many miles can be covered, and the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LHTAC) may administer the chip-seal grant.
On the Raise planning grant, the mayor said it covers planning and design only (not construction) for a collector street project covering Notus Road, 1st Street, 3rd Street and Jasper Avenue. Staff will work on estimates and planning steps before any construction funding is sought.
