Council asks city attorney to review proposed Caldwell Rural Fire impact-fee agreement

Representatives of Caldwell Rural Fire, including Mark Wendelsdorf, presented a proposed impact-fee agreement for collection by the City of Notus to help the fire district maintain current capital services. Wendelsdorf told the council that the fee would be charged at the time a building permit is issued, that the city would retain $15 per permit for administration, and that funds would be limited to capital expenditures rather than operational services. "Money can only be used for capital items, not for any new services," Wendelsdorf said.
Councilmembers discussed the fee schedule; the proposed residential fee is $665 and non-residential fees would be calculated at $0.33 per square foot. Councilmember Devin Krasowski moved to have the city attorney review the agreement; Rob Hartsock seconded and the motion carried unanimously. No final adoption or fee-collection ordinance was recorded at the meeting pending legal review.
