Gage County Board of Equalization approves valuation reductions for dozens of parcels

The Gage County Board of Equalization on July 8 approved a referee-recommended list of valuation changes covering dozens of parcels after reconvening at 1:00 p.m. Supervisor Eddie Dorn moved to approve the list and Supervisor Rex Adams seconded; the motion carried 5-0 after Supervisor Emily Haxby read the recommendations into the record.
The changes affect a broad set of property types. Examples from the approved list include parcel 015421000 (Kenneth Retchless Jr.), whose 2026 value was reduced from $389,335 to $347,245, and parcel 005905000 (Jerry A. Yurka), reduced from $600,425 to $592,470. Large agricultural holdings also received reductions: G & M Farms (parcel 002980000) was reduced from $1,169,365 to $1,106,080. The board treated parcel #006244000 (Ronald Wegner) separately after an earlier motion on that parcel.
County Assessor Patti Milligan was present for the session that considered protests and referee recommendations. The board’s action implements referee findings and will be reflected in the county’s assessment roll. The BOE adjourned at 3:07 p.m. and is scheduled to meet next on July 20, 2026.
