After budget rejection, Columbia BOE urges community input and outlines Q&A process

Board members addressed procedural questions about how residents can get answers and what happens next after a budget rejection.
Christine Sposito and Superintendent Barbara Wilson said the district posts a Question-and-Answer document on columbiact.gov and invited residents to email follow-up questions; some answers may be included at the next board meeting. Chairman Michael Maziarz said further budget rejections would require deeper reductions and urged residents to engage ‘‘as a Columbia family’’ in upcoming deliberations.
Board members expressed frustration about the FiPAC process and the challenge of finding additional savings without harming instruction. The board closed the meeting after a 6–0 vote to adjourn and said it will continue discussions with town officials and FiPAC representatives.
