The Calumet County Zoning Board of Adjustment voted unanimously May 28 to approve a variance allowing Brad and Tina Burg to construct a detached accessory structure 36 feet from a navigable waterway at their property at N3002 Lakeshore Drive in the Town of Brothertown. The board entered the public hearing at 6:28 p.m. and closed it at 6:42 p.m.
Board member Jannette, speaking during the motion, said the parcel’s stream and limited buildable area created a unique constraint and an unnecessary hardship: "they happen to have a stream running through a 2-acre parcel. It’s limited, it’s unique, they have limited options as to where they can and cannot build on it." Giebel read a letter into the record from neighbor Judy Bloom expressing support for the project. The board found no harm to public interests and approved the variance by unanimous vote.
