Verizon says maintenance will be infrequent and will use flaggers if police are unavailable

During cross‑examination and questioning, Adam Roberts expressed concern that maintenance visits and company trucks could block or complicate access to his driveway. Kristen Prentiss, Verizon's engineer, said maintenance would be "very infrequent" and estimated it could be "2, 3, maybe 4 or more" years before equipment upgrades were needed. She added that the company could provide flaggers if the New Canaan Police Department was not on detail for a maintenance event. Roberts said even rare maintenance near his driveway could make ingress and egress difficult.
Keith Volante confirmed there would be no on‑site generators and that radio heads are largely silent. The authority noted the company's representations and will consider transcript evidence and the applicant's traffic-safety measures in the written record.
