Parks staff told the board the pool season has run well and reported measurable revenue and participation gains.
“As of yesterday, we had 6,962 people come to the pool this year,” staff (Speaker 11) said, noting 108 swim lessons and $3,120 paid online for lessons. Staff and board members discussed that the pool’s plastic loungers — about 12–13 years old — are failing, with staff reporting several chairs being discarded each week. One staff member recommended ordering at least a dozen replacements; another suggested increasing that to 24 to ensure safe seating on busy days.
The chair and staff agreed that Jessica (park grants coordinator) should compile prices for commercial-grade loungers and a list of capital needs (boiler replacement, sunshades, concrete pads) so the board can pursue Community Foundation and other grant opportunities. The board asked staff to return with a prioritized wish list and estimated costs to include in next year’s capital budget.
