Special Abilities in North Texas outlines day program, licensing and community outings

Jordan Drake, president and CEO of Special Abilities in North Texas, told attendees that the nonprofit operates a licensed individualized-skills and socialization program for adults with disabilities and has served the North Texas area for more than 30 years. "We've been here in North Texas for over 30 years now," Drake said, noting several long-term attendees.
Drake described the program structure: participants rotate through classes covering life skills, health and fitness, and creative arts, and staff include a teacher and a nurse. Drake also highlighted off-site activities that keep participants engaged in the community, saying, "We have gone to the movies... We've toured Cowboy Stadium, all kinds of stuff to keep people involved and active in their community."
