Commission approves short-term KCK Advisory contract for interim CFO services

The Commission approved a small-purchase professional-services agreement with KCK Advisory, LLC not to exceed $59,999.99 to provide interim CFO-level services while the county transitions following the departure of former finance director Misty Witt. County Manager Jordan Barela said the consultant (Kurt Knight, CPA) was recommended by the county's audit firm and would provide revenue forecasting, DFA reporting, budget creation, oversight of reconciliations and training for existing finance staff.
Barela described the engagement as temporary and said the county may later pursue a formal RFP if it decides to permanently outsource CFO functions. "This is a temporary placement, estimated: 6-9 months," the manager said. Commissioner Kevin McCall moved to approve the agreement; Vice-Chair Linda Jaramillo seconded and the motion passed by roll-call (Schwebach absent).
Staff said Mr. Knight has prior government and tribal accounting experience and will work an estimated 20–30 hours per week, with about two days on-site as needed during budget season.
