Durham County staff presented the final recommended FY27 annual transit work program and described the staff working group's unanimous recommendation to move the program forward to the county commissioners for approval at the June 8 meeting. Brandy Minor, staff working group administrator, said projected revenues total approximately $62,500,000, including a $44,000,000 projection from the 0.5¢ sales tax and a planned $16,000,000 draw from fund balance to balance the budget.
GoTriangle's deputy CEO urged two cost-neutral adjustments to improve reliability on Route 800 and to increase midday frequency on the Durham–Raleigh Express, describing the changes as "less than 1% of plan revenues" and framed them as necessary to address known reliability gaps. Commissioners debated process and timing: several members favored approving the staff-recommended work program now and advancing GoTriangle's request as a proposed amendment, citing tight meeting schedules and the need for Orange and Wake county approvals on cross-county routes. Staff said if both bodies do not approve a new plan before July 1, the region would operate under an interim (status-quo) budget.
