Veritas updates EMWT operations; county asks for monthly reports and certification progress

Ed Cardenas of Veritas Services LLC told the commission he has been working for EMWT for over a year and that some costs are currently covered by Torrance County. Cardenas said staff are drafting a personnel policy manual for EMWT's first employee and an operations manual that will include maps, standard procedures and emergency protocols. He said the goal is to have the utility billing system "fully online by March for ~170+ customers across systems."
Cardenas said he is training "Jake" toward state water-operator certification while maintaining a contracted certified operator for sampling and operations. He emphasized the need for a 24/7 response capability and recommended long-term in-house certification for the utility. Chairman Schwebach asked for static well-level monitoring to be included in regular operations and requested monthly updates after EMWT board meetings; Commissioner McCall asked that EMWT board representatives be brought before the Commission so expectations can be aligned.
