Student‑safety reports show declines in several incident categories, board approves SSDS report

The district presented its Student Safety Data System (SSDS) report covering January 1–June 30, 2025 and reported reductions in multiple categories compared with the prior report. Mr. Thomas said the report shows a 9% decrease in reportable offenses, a 12% reduction in physically aggressive behavior, and a 13.5% decrease in confirmed HIB incidents.
Mr. Thomas provided counts for the reporting period: 115 acts of violence, 23 incidents of damage to property, 13 weapons incidents, 57 substance‑abuse reports, and 45 confirmed HIB incidents for a total of 253 reported incidents. He described district efforts including partnerships with local agencies (Health and Wellness Coalition, YMCA, Communities That Care, and Toms River Police Department) and programs such as responsive classrooms and positive behavioral supports.
After discussion, the board approved the SSDS report by roll call.
