A licensing representative proposed adding a parent-signature field on incident and accident reports so centers could document that parents received notification and a copy. The licensing presenter explained this would reduce disputes where a parent later says they were not informed.
Several providers responded that many centers now use childcare-management software that records notification timestamps, staff names and descriptions of incidents, and sometimes photos. One participant noted the practical limitation: "The only thing is that we can't get it signed by the parent," and warned that a strict signature requirement could make software-based documentation noncompliant and impose burdens on communication practices. The group asked staff to reconcile signature requirements with common electronic-communication practices before finalizing language.
