New state law will require districts to post legal notices online; Toms River says it is preparing

"Beginning in 03/01/2026, public entities must publish their legal notices on their website in a conspicuous location," Speaker 10 said, explaining the law signed by the governor on 06/30/2025. Staff noted the law requires notices to remain on the entity’s website for at least one year and, during 01/01/2026 through 03/01/2026, requires twice‑monthly publication both on the website and in newspapers. The district has already been posting legal notices online and said it has reached out to the Secretary of State about the required public‑notice database.
The board asked if the online notices will include a short blurb directing readers to the district website; staff said the district will post the full notice on its website and provide the link to the Secretary of State when the database is operational.
