The Toms River Regional Schools Board of Education reviewed its 2026–27 budget calendar, with Business Administrator Mister Dearing telling the board the tentative budget is due March 19 and the board’s meeting is scheduled for March 18.
"The 1st key date for us, is obviously the tentative budget due date, which they have as March 19," Mister Dearing said as he walked members through the calendar. He told the board the district currently assumes state aid will be flat for budgeting purposes and noted last year’s one‑time $1,000,000 tax‑levy incentive aid will leave a hole the district must fill this year.
Board members discussed timing for the citizens budget advisory committee and whether later state aid notices might change the analysis. After members reviewed conflicts, the board set the citizens advisory meeting for April 1 at 5:30 p.m. at Toms River High School North’s media center and encouraged residents to bring questions about budgets, funding and taxes.
Dearing said the district will present a tentative budget in time to meet county deadlines and that staff will continue to review allocations and possible reallocations as numbers become firmer.
