Longtime property owner John Stockard told the Board he farms the rear of his property and needs a larger, enclosed barn to properly store equipment currently covered with tarps. Stockard requested a maximum-area variance of 1,550.73 square feet (proposing 4,652.20 sq. ft. where code allows 3,101.47 sq. ft.) and a 3-foot height variance to allow 27 feet where code allows 24 feet.
Board members discussed precedent and sightline concerns related to grade differences and ultimately approved both variances; the area and height approvals were recorded as 4 AYES and 1 abstention (Chair Mark Ladegaard abstained).
