Senate passes bill requiring pharmacy accessibility options for blind and visually impaired Iowans

Senator Warmie described House File 2585 as a statute that will allow blind and visually impaired Iowans greater independence and privacy when filling prescriptions. He said the bill directs the Board of Pharmacy to set rules and maintain a list of pharmacies that can accommodate new technologies for accessible prescriptions; pharmacies that lack the technology must provide a referral list to patients who need the service.

Warmie noted multiple Iowans with visual impairments testified in subcommittee in favor of the legislation, and he asked for the Senate's consent to read the bill for final passage. The Senate recorded a unanimous vote (47–0) and declared the bill passed.
