Director of Public Works Nathan described a contracted project to clean, televise and precisely locate a 234.5-foot section of storm sewer that crosses private property to record its path for a preliminary certified survey map. The work proved more difficult than estimated because the pipe includes multiple bends and a garage built over a section, and cleaning and televising required additional time and effort.
The total invoice from Expeditors Incorporated was $11,805, exceeding staff’s $6,500 estimate. Nathan recommended payment from stormwater utility funds to complete the recordation and meet the planning commission’s condition for the final certified survey map; council approved the invoice by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will record the exact pipe location in the certified survey map as recommended by planning commission.
