Director Drager said the proposed rezoning for the parcel at 1911 Janesville Avenue would change the zoning from Rural Holding (RH-35) to Multifamily Residential (MRH-30) to facilitate multifamily housing consistent with the city's comprehensive plan and planned mixed-use designation. He emphasized that the rezoning is only a zoning action; future approvals such as site plan review, a certified survey map and conditional use permits would be required for project specifics.
Drager described the proposed project as two phases: "1st phase, is 4 16 unit multifamily homes, and then a space 2 would be 3 16 unit, multifamily building." He noted the parcel is privately owned, was reviewed by the planning commission on July 28, and that all required notices were sent. Council directed the city manager to prepare the ordinance for a second reading on Aug. 18; the motion carried.
Next steps: site-specific approvals will be required if the developer advances the project, including potential conditional use permit conditions and certified survey map requirements.
