County reports hires, paraprofessional recruitment and psychologist positions funded through grant

During the department report Joanne K. Metzen, Director of Special Education, gave a detailed staffing update. She said Brillion filled a high-school ID neurodiverse position after a teacher transfer, Chilton filled an emotional-behavioral disorder (EBD) vacancy, Hilbert filled middle/high-school positions, and New Holstein filled high-school and early-childhood teaching positions. Metzen noted interviews are scheduled in early to mid-June to fill 2.5 paraprofessional openings at Hilbert and New Holstein.
Metzen also reported the county is hiring psychologist positions through recent grant funding: "Through a grant, the County is hiring 4.5 school psychologist roles (3 have been hired) and a Mental Health Program Coordinator, hired," she said in her report. The board received a handout detailing staff fully funded by the Calumet County Children with Disabilities Education Board.
