County approves crack-seal contract, truck purchases and Walmart business contract

The Board of County Commissioners approved three contract awards on Feb. 19 following a report by Purchasing Director Joe Thomas.
Thomas said the Board of Bids & Contracts met Feb. 13 and recommended awarding the 2025 crack-seal project (R175H) to Conspec Incorporated (doing business as Kansas Paving) at $628,082.32; purchasing two 1-ton, 4x4 crew-cab flatbed trucks meeting specifications to Master Tech Truck & Equipment LLC for $228,504; and establishing a Walmart Business contract through an Omnia/NCPA cooperative (NCPA #15-02) effective through Aug. 31, 2026, with two one-year renewal options. County engineering staff clarified KDOT prequalification standards and explained why one lower bidder was not KDOT-prequalified for highway work.
Commissioners approved the recommendations by roll call.
