Developer says Cathedral City project will break ground after Jan. 1; amenities include pool, dog park and clubhouse

Mario Gonzalez, president and CEO of GHA Communities, told the committee the developer owns the site and anticipates beginning construction "probably after 1st of the year." Gonzalez said the project will likely be built in phases with a model complex first and subsequent phases tied to market demand, and that price points have not yet been set.
"We probably after 1st of the year. We own the property," Gonzalez said when asked about the schedule, and later: "We think this is a wonderful project." He described pedestrian access to adjacent commercial properties via an existing ramp and outlined the on-site amenities including a dog park, separate pool and spa, barbecue and a recreation facility intended to serve residents. Gonzalez and staff also noted shade structures and garage parking will be provided to meet city shade standards for parking.
The committee approved forwarding the architecture and landscape to the Planning Commission; the applicant said it will continue working with staff on engineering and permit details leading up to building permit submittal and phased construction.
