Oak Ridge council removes obsolete retirement enrollment language from personnel code
Summary

The council voted to amend the personnel ordinance to delete obsolete language that referenced optional membership in the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System for employees appointed prior to 01/01/1962 and to remove an outdated reference implying a six-month probationary period before enrollment.
"That sentence is superfluous for 2 reasons," the presenter said, noting the 1962 date is no longer relevant and the six-month probationary period was ended by a 1998 resolution. Council approved the cleanup amendment on its reading with no recorded opposition.
