The Peekskill Planning Commission granted final site-plan approval for reuse of a vacant building at 1101 Main Street as a health club, setting the approval to expire on 09/11/2025 and making a targeted change to Condition 7 addressing bicycle-rack placement. Keith Potensky, representing the applicant, said the landlord will determine final bike-rack placement and asked that the condition be clarified to permit the rack to be on the property but not necessarily directly in front of the gym.
Commissioners and staff debated rack placement to avoid obstructing pedestrian walkways while keeping the rack visible and within a lit area. The Chair summarized the compromise: the bicycle rack will be provided on the property, with final placement to the satisfaction of the landlord and the director of planning. After closing the hearing, the Commission moved, seconded and voted to grant final approval under the updated condition. “We already conducted our coordinated SEQR review,” the Chair said before the vote.
