"I just had a burning curiosity that I just needed to know what local government was like," he said, describing the IT director post as a "once in a lifetime opportunity." He told the host he felt an obligation to run when an open council seat appeared: "I think I have knowledge on how the city works. I think I have an understanding on how I could make things better."
