Committee backs amendment letting Farmer City tax levy fund PSI's 2026 ambulance payment

The Finance Committee reviewed an amendment to the Intergovernmental Agreement with the Farmer City Community Fire Protection District that modifies compensation language related to ambulance services provided through Paramedic Services of Illinois (PSI). The amendment specifies that for Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2026, the sum of $375,000 will be funded to PSI by the County from funds paid by the District from its Ambulance Tax Levy and paid quarterly ($93,750 each).
Committee member Claro Carter moved and Jamie Prestegaard seconded a recommendation to the full board; the voice vote carried. The amendment deletes specified subparagraphs in Section 4 of the existing IGA and replaces them with the revised funding language for 2026, and calls for negotiations on adjusted payments for 2027 and 2028 beginning in August preceding those years.
