Daniels County commissioners voted Dec. 15 to authorize staff to proceed with a letter of intent and next steps to acquire a mower and tractor for the road department, after staff outlined options for warranties, delivery and budget timing. The board also discussed a separate opportunity to buy a used excavator; staff said they'd pursue vendor details and possible financing.
Road department staff described the excavator opportunity as useful but uncertain. "The excavator would very much be a great new piece of equipment to have," the Road Department official said, adding delivery lead times could push payment or delivery into the next fiscal year. Commissioners approved the motion to sign the mower commitment and asked staff to return with firm quotes, financing terms and a recommended procurement path before final payment.
