Brian Palmer, Harvey County Airport Manager, reported Oct. 7 that the runway 8-26 construction project is under way and the main runway will be closed from Oct. 20 until Nov. 19 for construction. Palmer said helicopters will still be able to use the airport during the runway closure and reminded commissioners that the Aviation Commission will meet Oct. 20 at 4:00 p.m. at the airport.
The commission recessed later for a Pine Street facility tour and did not take further action on airport contracts or finances at the Oct. 7 meeting. The runway closure dates were presented as an informational update; commissioners did not vote on additional airport items at the session.
