Santa Ynez High's vine-pruning team wins state title; students recognized at board meeting

Ag teachers and coaches brought the vine-pruning students to the board meeting to recognize competition results from across California. Kylen Bray and Heather Clement described students' travel to three statewide contests and the team's wins; they noted the team drove approximately 2,000 miles to compete and that the team placed at every event they entered.
"So they're the state champions for vine pruning," one coach said, and trustees and attendees applauded. Louie Mathis was recognized as the first high individual statewide; team members and coaches were thanked for their commitment and for building strong industry connections with local vineyard managers that supported the students' practice and preparation.
