The Harvey County Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution 2025-27 on Sept. 23 authorizing purchase of the parcels at 109 and 111 E. 7th St., Newton, to provide space for county offices during the upcoming courthouse remodel. The resolution states the legal description of the parcels and specifies a purchase price "for a purchase price of $100,000.00" subject to customary prorations and closing costs.
County Administrator Kevin Frymire told the board the property was formerly used as office space and provides opportunity for growth near the courthouse. The agenda packet notes the county could fund the purchase from CARES funds, which currently hold $300,000. The resolution authorizes the County Administrator to execute the purchase agreement and directs the County Treasurer to pay the purchase price from the county general fund as shown on the buyer's closing statement.
