City planning staff reported to the Piedmont Planning Commission that 32 planning permit applications were submitted in April 2025; staff approved 29 and three applications were voided for reasons such as conversion to a different review type or withdrawal.
Kevin (staff) said expedited permits were the most numerous category for the month with 16 submitted and 14 approved; director-level submittals numbered nine (six approved) and planning-commission-level submissions were described as two submitted and four approved for the reporting period. On the building-permit side, staff reported 107 building permits submitted and 102 approved, with residential remodels and roof permits among the largest single categories.
Commissioners clarified that the report covers the calendar month April 1–30 and that applications received late in the month may be recorded as submitted but not yet approved, explaining why submission and approval totals can differ. Staff said expedited permits generally target 10–14 day processing, director reviews often take about 30 days, and commission items follow the 30-day schedule when needed.
The commission accepted the informational report and had no public comment on the item.
