New pedestrian bridge in Piedmont set; finishing work and small ceremony planned

Parks staff updated the commission that a pedestrian bridge project in a city park was lifted into place and bolted down, with one small plate and a gap to allow structural flex remaining to be completed. Staff said fencing cleanup, planting of adjacent areas and returning benches are the next steps, and they are planning a small ribbon‑cutting; a Prop 68 funding sign must be installed as a condition of the grant.
"It was lifted in place. We are, it's bolted down. There's 1 remaining, part where they have to span the gap between the bridge and the abutment," Nancy said, describing the final mechanical piece to be installed. Commissioners thanked staff for leading the project and noted plans to add benches for dog‑park users and to coordinate a short ribbon‑cutting event once finishing work is complete.
