The committee reviewed a request from Pima Property Group for assistance to install a fire-alarm and sprinkler system at 922–926 South State. Staff explained the building has been vacant and a pending planning commission special-use case for a med spa has prompted interior renovations requiring life-safety upgrades.
Staff said the city's assistance program covers 50% of the eligible cost up to $15,000 for sprinklers and $5,000 for alarms; the applicant's bids exceeded $40,000 and the recommended assistance of $20,000 would bring the program spend for 2026 to roughly $39,750. "We will reimburse the applicant after the work is completed, after it's been inspected by the fire district, and approved," staff said. Council voiced no objection to placing the request on consent or the next council agenda.
The committee approved forwarding the item for council action or into consent as appropriate.
