Treasurer warns residents: property tax-refund applications due June 1

County Treasurer Kaye D'Arris reminded residents at the May 26 meeting that the deadline to apply for the property tax refund program is Monday, June 1.
"If you are unsure whether you qualify or have questions about the program, information is available on Department of Revenue's website, the treasurer's office website, or through our office," D'Arris said. She said the program is income-, asset- and residency-based and that her office has assisted "a little over 500 applications" so far.
D'Arris also relayed a message from the Assessor's Office: applications for the long-term homeowners and veterans exemptions are due today and residents should contact the assessor with questions. No legislative action was requested; the remarks were intended as public-service reminders.
