Aquatics foundation asks board to endorse joint‑use letter of intent; item moved to February

Kyle Abello, speaking for the Santa Ynez Valley Community Aquatics Foundation, asked the board to support a draft letter of intent that would start negotiations for a joint‑use agreement among Solvang, Buellton, the high school district and the foundation.
"This really is the 1st step in the progress towards a detailed joint use agreement between all of the entities involved in the pool process," Abello said, and he told the board the foundation's fundraising is in a late stage and that foundation leaders will return to present the letter of intent when the item appears on the February agenda. The president had the board table the item to next month, and Abello said the group plans to return then for action.
The board did not take action on the aquatics letter during the Jan. 20 meeting; staff will re‑place the draft letter of intent on the February consent or business calendar for formal consideration.
