The chair told the commission that a local restaurant that had been in operation since 1986 burned down and asked for prayers for the Overstreet family and the employees who lost work as a result of the fire.
"So, I will say that there, is a GoFundMe account if anybody's interested in, helping donate to the employees that have lost their jobs there," the chair said, and encouraged residents to consider donating and to check social media for the fund’s details. Commissioners noted that local establishments have been supporting displaced patrons and employees in the aftermath.
The chair closed the meeting with thanks to attendees and an invitation to the upcoming Purple Heart event on Aug. 7.
