Multiple public commenters described ongoing safety concerns at Norwalk High School related to pick-up/drop-off patterns and parking that force students to walk across busy lanes and create near-miss vehicle incidents.
Ben Hobson urged the district to study alternative pickup-line configurations and to use underused staff or student lots to reduce congestion at the site. "I'm asking that the district look into a better street pickup solution that's safer for students," Hobson said, noting an extra crossing guard has been assigned but that the parking and loading behavior of some guardians remains hazardous.
Trustees thanked speakers and asked staff to work with parents, school-site leadership and transportation personnel to identify options that could be implemented before the spring semester.
