Board moves separately on planning fees, building permits and revenue share after solar hearing

The planning and zoning fee schedule (including a proposed $1,500 special-exception application fee on top of an existing $300 special-exception fee) was opened, discussed and approved by roll call. Board members expressed differing readiness to adopt fee levels: one member said they were not ready to vote on all fee items and asked that fee ordinances be tabled for review; other members said the fees were necessary to avoid vesting and to ensure applicants could not avoid costs.
Building and electrical permit-fee changes were discussed in a separate hearing; the board initially tabled certain building-fee elements to allow review but later moved to approve a fee schedule for electrical permits to avoid leaving applicants without any fee structure. The county attorney and staff noted that ordinances and certain fee changes must be formally advertised and that fees can be amended later if necessary.
The revenue-share item'authorizing a local revenue-share option consistent with Va. Code 58.1-2636 (up to $1,400 per megawatt as referenced by staff)'was opened and approved by the board in a later motion.
