Bay High plan adds secured vestibule, intercom and an attendance station to control visitor access

The project team said one of the primary safety changes is a secured vestibule adjacent to a new administrative suite so visitors can be screened at an interaction window before accessing the broader school. The applicant described an intercom and buzzer at the top of the ramp that connects to a reception/attendance desk: "There will be an intercom," the applicant said, and the intercom "talks to that desk."

Commissioners pressed on how lock-down procedures and escorting would work; the applicant said perimeter doors already lock after morning bells and that visitors would either be escorted or vetted through the vestibule. The commission did not adopt operational rules at the meeting — the transcript shows those operational choices are left to the school district to implement.
